JOB DESCRIPTION
Role: HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT (HCA)
Reporting to: SERVICE MANAGER
Overall Objective: Reporting to the Care Unit Manager, the successful applicant should have strong health / social care experience. They will be capable of managing all aspects of the day-to-day care (Activities of Daily Living) and requirements of the client. Have excellent communication skills and dedicated to providing the highest quality of residential & social care to those most in need.
Duties: - Duties are not exhaustive, flexibility will be required based on residents needs and preferences.
- Familiarise oneself with the residents (Care Plan) - Carry out duties as required and outlined in same – Tasks will include, assisting / performing Personal and intimate care, bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, dressing, grooming, incontinence support, feeding, enabling, and encouraging independence, escorting on hospital / medical appointments, escorting on any community access or family meetings. Assisting residents with their spiritual needs. Ensuring that all care is provided safely and ensuring residents dignity, will and preference.
- Ensure and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for residents
- Provides light housekeeping tasks including tidying up of resident’s rooms, putting laundry away, some minimal laundering of client’s garments as required. Covid / infection control cleaning duties.
- Assists the client with movement /transfers as specified in the Care Plan
- Administration of Medication
- Observes and reports any changes in the resident’s mental, physical, or emotional condition.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication and a professional relationships.
- Use equipment and supplies safely and properly in accordance with the company policy and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding client information.
- Other reasonable related duties as assigned by Service / Unit Manager or Nurse on Duty.
- The work requires moderate physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis – These duties will include: - Moving and handling of the residents, assisting with mobility and transfers. Assisting with deliveries, unpacking, and putting away of same.

- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Background in in Health or Social Care;
- This role is a very hand’s on and is a busy role;
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to €30.00 per hour
